Yoga Nidra

"You are what you're deepest driving desire is.  As your desire, so is your will.  As your will, so is your deed.  As your deed, so is your destiny."  -Brihadaranyaka Upanishad

Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep or sleep with awareness, is an ancient practice that is rapidly gaining popularity in the West. It is intended to induce full-body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. "We live in a chronically exhausted, over stimulated world," says renowned yoga teacher Rod Stryker. "Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of complete relaxation, holistically addressing our physiological, neurological, and subconscious needs."

When yoga nidra is combined with sankalpa (or resolution) it can have a profound and positive effect on your life.  A sankalpa is a positive statement or affirmation.  Something that you are dearly committed to achieving in the next 6-18 months.  A sankalpa creates new life-affirming directions.  Coupled with yoga nidra, it allows you to gather all of your potential powers to accomplish whatever goal or end you desire.  Your sankalpa is a clear statement affirming something you want to achieve.  Your sankalpa should be clear, concise, and in the present tense.
